Reservists are full members of the Canadian Armed Forces who serve in part-time roles. Most have jobs or careers in the civilian world. They are motivated by a sense of service to Canada, and a desire for an exciting second career. They come from all walks of life, and are among the most interesting people you will ever meet!
Medical reservists include paramedics, nurses, physiotherapists, chiropractors, pre-medical/medical students, and doctors. They can also be individuals whose careers have little to do with healthcare, such as teachers, police officers, lawyers, engineers, IT specialists, and real estate agents.

As a member of the military, Medical Assistants are employed to assist and support Medical Officers and Nursing Officers to treat the sick and injured in Canadian Armed Forces units and on operations.
Minimum requirement: grade 10
As a member of the military, Medical Technicians work with a variety of health care professionals including Medical Officers and Nursing Officers to treat the sick and injured in various Canadian Armed Forces' operations and units.
Minimum requirement: 2-yr Paramedic College Diploma Program; Emergency Medical Care Assistant (A-EMCA) exam; certification as a Primary Care Paramedic
As a member of the military, Nursing Officers provide primary and tertiary patient care to ill and injured Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, either in Canadian Forces Health Services Centres in Canada, or in acute care hospitals while on operations abroad.

As a member of the military, a Physician Assistant (PA), is a health care provider who extends the hand of the supervising physician to remote or isolated locations.

As a member of the military, Medical Officers provide primary health care services for Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) members, whether at a Canadian Forces Health Services Clinic or overseas in support of peace support, combat or humanitarian missions.

As a member of the military, Medical Officers with Certification in the College of Family Physicians and who hold Special Competency in Emergency Medicine (CCFP(EM)) provide specialized urgent and emergent resuscitative care and instruction in both pre-hospital and hospital environments for Canadian Forces Health Services training and deployed operations.

As a member of the military, previously known as Health Care Administration Officer, Health Services Management Officers provide leadership and management of health care services and delivery.

As a member of the military, Human Resources Administrators provide administrative and general human resources support to all military activities.

As a member of the military, Financial Services Administrators provide financial assistance and budget resources support to all military activities.

As a member of the Canadian Armed Forces, reservists may be called up for deployment in times of war. Barring this possibility, deployment is strictly voluntary and reservists may choose which missions they deploy on.
Medical reservists receive the same basic military training as any other member of the Canadian Armed Forces. Afterwards, they take courses that qualify them for their specific trades and careers.
